About Christal Jerez

 

Christal Jerez is an audio engineer with experience recording, mixing and mastering music. After studying audio production at American University for her B.A. in Audio Production and at New York University for her Masters degree in Music Technology, she started working professionally at Platinum Sound Recording Studios in NYC where she worked as a senior staff engineer working with artists like Lil Kim, Kat de Luna, Miguel, and more.

After 4 years, she moved on to work as Alex Tumay’s mix assistant at Do What Sounds Good Studios. She had the opportunity to work on records for Partynextdoor, dvsn, Gunna, and more. Christal worked in Los Angeles, her hometown, from 2020-2023, where she had the great pleasure mixing and mastering numerous projects for her company, Christal’s Sonic Lab. In 2023, Christal relocated to the UK to start her PhD focused on Immersive Music Production under the Andrew Scheps Music Production scholarship at the University of Huddersfield.

Outside of studio work, Christal mentors individuals in the engineering and production field through weekly calls, hands on demos, and business development meetings. She enjoys speaking on panels and workshops where she can share her experiences on being a latine woman in the music industry.
